See what kind of love the Father has given us, that we should be called children of God — and so we are. For this reason the world does not know us, because it did not know him.

Beloved, now we are children of God, and what we shall be has not yet appeared; we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is.

And everyone who has this hope set on him purifies himself, just as that One is pure.

The one who practices sin is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God appeared, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

Everyone who has been begotten of God does not practice sin, because his seed abides in him; and he cannot keep sinning, because he has been begotten of God.
