Analysis. Acts 24 is a courtroom, and the layout shows two speeches hanging as blue content-catenas from two frames: Tertullus' accusation from λέγων (vv. 2–8) and Paul's defense from Ἀπεκρίθη (vv. 10–21), with Luke's narrative aorists holding the left margin only at vv. 1, 9, 10, and in the Felix panel of vv. 22–27. Inside Tertullus' speech the flattering genitive absolutes of vv. 2b–3 lean forward on ἀποδεχόμεθα, and the accusation itself is a famous anacoluthon: Εὑρόντες (v. 5) never reaches a finite verb, so the three counts — λοιμόν, the στάσεις-stirrer, πρωτοστάτης of the Ναζωραίων sect — hang as a suspended chain that runs through the temple charge to the depth-five relative of v. 8. Between vv. 6 and 8 the layout flags the chapter's text-critical crux: the critical text omits v. 7, the Western expansion in which Lysias takes Paul away by force and orders the accusers to Felix — so v. 6 ends mid-sentence on ὃν καὶ ἐκρατήσαμεν, the numbering jumps 6 → 8, and παρ' οὗ (v. 8) points at Paul rather than (as in the Western text) at Lysias. Paul's defense mirrors the accusation's shape point for point: a preposed causal participle leans on ἀπολογοῦμαι, the triple οὔτε-denial and the evidentiary challenge sit as coordinate assertions, the ὁμολογῶ-confession chains down through the Way, the law-and-prophets, and the shared resurrection hope, and a second anacoluthon (τινὲς δὲ ... Ἰουδαῖοι, v. 18) breaks off toward the absent Asian accusers before the whole case is reduced to the one quoted cry of v. 21, περὶ ἀναστάσεως νεκρῶν. The Felix panel is Lukan narrative: genitive absolutes leaning forward on their aorists — adjourned, sent for, answered, received a successor — closing on the perfect δεδεμένον: Paul left bound.
