Analysis. Romans 8 opens on the margin with a dashed verbless verdict — Οὐδὲν ἄρα νῦν κατάκριμα — and everything to v. 4 hangs beneath it: the Spirit's liberating law as ground, then the near-anacoluthon of v. 3, whose object τὸ ἀδύνατον τοῦ νόμου is left suspended (dashed) while ὁ θεός takes over the sentence, with the ἵνα of v. 4 as the goal. Verses 5–13 alternate flush-left antithesis pairs (flesh/Spirit, death/life) with olive conditional protases leaning forward on their apodoses — the rhythm of the two regimes — while the διότι diagnosis of v. 7 steps down three levels (enmity → non-submission → incapacity). The adoption paragraph (14–17) climbs from sonship to the εἰ δὲ τέκνα chain: children → heirs → co-heirs, with the sober εἴπερ συμπάσχομεν hung (anchored, as a backward conditional) on συγκληρονόμοι. The groaning triad (18–27) is the deepest staircase: Λογίζομαι carries the glory-thesis, and the grounds descend through creation's craning ἀποκαραδοκία to ἐφ' ἑλπίδι — read with ὑπετάγη ('subjected in hope'), the οὐχ ἑκοῦσα … διὰ τὸν ὑποτάξαντα line treated as a parenthesis — whose content (ὅτι, v. 21) is creation's own emancipation. In v. 24 the maxim 'hope seen is no hope' hangs from ἐλπίδι; in v. 27 the ὅτι is taken as causal (the Searcher knows the Spirit's mind because his intercession is κατὰ θεόν). The golden chain (28–30) keeps all three καὶ οὕς links at one depth so the five aorists προέγνω–προώρισεν–ἐκάλεσεν–ἐδικαίωσεν–ἐδόξασεν read as a single sorites; in v. 28 πάντα is taken as the subject of συνεργεῖ ('all things work together'), not an implied ὁ θεός. The finale (31–39) returns to diatribe purple: εἰ ὁ θεὸς ὑπὲρ ἡμῶν is a backward-leaning protasis anchored on ταῦτα (it gathers up vv. 28–30); the ὅς γε clause of v. 32 is a hanging relative suspended (dashed) over its πῶς question; the answers of vv. 33–34 are punctuated as statements, not counter-questions; and the ten οὔτε items of vv. 38–39 stand as two list lines under one πέπεισμαι. In v. 3 περὶ ἁμαρτίας is read as 'sin offering,' and in v. 10 τὸ πνεῦμα as the human spirit made alive.
