Analysis. Romans 12 is the letter's hinge from mercy to obedience, and the page shows three textures in turn. Verses 1–2 still flow like the doctrinal chapters: one flush-left Παρακαλῶ οὖν carrying its infinitive-content line (the triple predicate θυσίαν ζῶσαν ἁγίαν εὐάρεστον), the dashed apposition τὴν λογικὴν λατρείαν ὑμῶν, then the μή/ἀλλά imperative pair with its εἰς-τό purpose step. Verses 3–8 argue: Λέγω γάρ over its two φρονεῖν content lines (the ὑπερφρονεῖν/σωφρονεῖν wordplay), the fronted καθάπερ comparison leaning — like a protasis, so with no anchor — on the οὕτως landing, and then the gifts of vv. 6–8 as a suspended distributive column: the anacoluthic ἔχοντες head (the exhortation 'use them' supplied) with seven dashed εἴτε-limbs hanging from the one word χαρίσματα, εἴτε itself carried silently over the last three. From v. 9 the page turns staccato. The layout takes a two-part line on the famous imperatival participles: within vv. 9–13 they are read as DEPENDENT on the verbless heading ἡ ἀγάπη ἀνυπόκριτος — eleven parallel lines at a single shallow depth, all hanging from ἀγάπη, love's one profile unpacked; from v. 14, where true imperatives (εὐλογεῖτε, μὴ γίνεσθε, δότε) and imperatival infinitives (χαίρειν, κλαίειν) enter the string, the participles (φρονοῦντες, ἀποδιδόντες, προνοούμενοι, εἰρηνεύοντες, ἐκδικοῦντες) are read as INDEPENDENT imperatival participles set flush left among them. Other cruxes decided here: εἰ δυνατόν (v. 18) is a forward-leaning verbless protasis over the peace-command; the Deut 32:35 oracle hangs as a two-line catena under γέγραπται (with λέγει κύριος kept inside the quotation block); and v. 20, though it is Prov 25:21–22 verbatim, is set at Paul's own discourse level — the ἀλλά answers μὴ ἑαυτοὺς ἐκδικοῦντες, Scripture's words become Paul's own counter-command, its two ἐάν protases leaning forward on ψώμιζε and πότιζε; the coals of v. 20 are read as burning shame unto repentance, not judgment.
