Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life and may enter the city by the gates.

Beatitude (asyndeton)asyndetonThe seventh and last beatitude. The critical text reads οἱ πλύνοντες τὰς στολάς ('who wash their robes'; cf. 7:14) against the Byzantine οἱ ποιοῦντες τὰς ἐντολάς ('who do his commandments') — washing in the Lamb's blood grants access to tree and city.
